FAQs
What is the process when contacting Baldwin, Briscoe & Steinmetz?
Please call 301-862-4400 to schedule a consultation appointment. Staff will schedule your appointment with the attorney that is most experienced in the legal matter you have. Following the appointment, you can decide to retain our services. From there, our attorney will communicate the next steps as they are unique for each legal matter.
What happens at the Consultation appointment?
During your consultation appointment, you will discuss your legal matter with the attorney and ask any question you may have. The attorney may offer legal options available and explain how to retain our services.
Are consultations free?
There is no charge for consultations for personal injury, criminal, and traffic matters. Typically for other matters, there is a fee of $200.
What is a retainer?
The retainer agreement is the contract between you and the attorney for services and fees paid. It is NOT an estimate of our services. The retainer fee is required (in most cases) when we are contracted.
What is a trust account?
A trust account is an account where your retainer payment is held until it is “billed” by the attorney for services and fees utilized. A monthly invoice is provided to each client to identify all services and fees that are transferred out of your trust account for payment.
How long will it take to resolve my case?
Every case is different and has various levels of complexity. The attorney may be able to provide you with an estimate for your case, however this estimate is non-binding.
Where do you practice?
Depending on the legal matters, our services may be available in St. Mary’s, Charles, and Calvert counties. We handle personal injury cases throughout the state of Maryland.
Mr. Steinmetz informed me I had a difficult case. The truth is rarely convenient. Case went to jury trial. Mr. Steinmetz was awesome! I was very pleased with the jury decision. Thank you Mr. Steinmetz!
